Product Description

Progressive Thin and Dark Glass Lenses are made with a material that can be surfaced to 1.5 millimeters, much thinner than regular glass lenses. The secret is in the material itself, premium Corning Thin and Dark glass lens blanks. These photochromic glass lenses are clear indoors and darker than PhotoGray Extra glass lenses when you are outdoors. All glass lenses are for full frames only. Please do not order glass lenses if you have semi-rimless or drill-mount frames.

I am always pleased with Lens Factory. They put quality first and that is exactly what I get every time I order new lenses from them. Thank you for taking the time to do it right.

  2. A Lightweight glass lens your optometrist may not know is available 5 Star Review

Very good quality glass lenses. I like them because they do not scratch as easily as plastic. I have worn glass/plastic lenses for over 40 years and I prefer glass. These glass lenses are not heavy at all on my nose and the comfort level is very good. Plus I like the photo grey.

  4. Not too heavy 5 Star Review

I was a little worried about buying glass lenses. But, the Corning Thin and Dark lenses are very comfortable: light enough and a nice amount of transition from light to dark to light.

  5. Great Glasses from a Great Company 5 Star Review

These are the best glasses I have purchased. The progressive lens take some time to get used to, but I will never go back. The same with the thin glass lenses. They are the best of both worlds. Acuity of glass with close to the same weight as plastic.

  6. The best of the best 5 Star Review

I've been wearing Corning Thin and Dark progressive lenses in Ray Ban aviator frames for almost a decade. The visual acuity with glass lenses far surpasses anything made of plastic and polycarbonate with a negligible increase in weight. These lenses get darker faster and clear up quicker than any photochromic lens I've worn. They don't get *quite* as dark as a G15 lens but it's as close as you can get with a changeable lens.

  8. Glass rules 4 Star Review

Glass is superior and does NOT scratch like plastics (yes, if it not glass, it is some form of plastic). A little heavier but so what.

The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because I wish they would darken quicker.

  9. Dow Corning the OEM of photo-grey lenses 5 Star Review

Ditto's on all prior positive comments.

Plastic transitions are only microns thick, scratch to easily. The Thin-n-Dark color seems throughout the glass lens. They to not transform from light to dark or dark to light as quickly as the plastics, so be careful when entering indoors from a sunny environment, they can get very dark, which I like.

Have ordered my third pair. Nothing wrong with previous years, but I would advise not to add any special coatings to glass, Anti glare attracts oil right out of the air, lenses are continuously 'greasy' and the coating scratches off in places really messing up the clarity. The anti-glare coating is practically impossible to remove completely. I would believe scratch resistant coating be a waste, since anything that would scratch tempered glass would also scratch any coatings.

  10. Great lenses 5 Star Review

This is my 3rd set of these lenses. They work as advertised and they are GLASS! Almost no difference in weight to plastic and are virtually scratch proof. I will continue to use glass as long as it is available and this brand seems to do the job very well - Thanks Lens Factory.
